KidNavi started the way most good ideas do — not in a boardroom, but in a quiet moment of worry that every parent knows too well.
A walk to school, and a phone that wouldn't stop buzzing
It started with something small. One of our founders stood at the window, watching their child walk to school alone for the first time — a milestone every parent waits for, and dreads, in equal measure. Ten minutes felt like an hour. Every unanswered text felt like a held breath.
That evening, the obvious next step seemed to be: give them a phone. But the more we thought about it, the less it felt like a solution. A phone doesn't just answer "are they safe?" — it opens the door to everything else. Social media at eight years old. Strangers in comment sections. Endless scrolling instead of endless imagination. We weren't ready to trade one worry for a dozen new ones.
So we asked a different question: what if our kids could stay connected and safe, without needing to grow up faster than they should?

Technology that grows up when they do — not before
We looked at what already existed. Basic trackers that could locate a child but couldn't let them hear a parent's voice when they were scared. Full smartphones that could do everything — which was exactly the problem. Nothing sat in the middle: real safety, real connection, and real fun, without the parts of the internet no child needs yet.
So that's what we built. A device small enough to wear, simple enough for little hands, and smart enough to give parents something they'd never quite had before: the ability to know, in real time, that their child is safe — and the ability for their child to reach them, instantly, the moment they need to.
That's how KidNavi's first GPS smartwatches were born — built by parents, tested on our own kids, refined every time a real family told us what actually mattered to them.
